55, passed away Feb. 3, 2012 in Englewood. He had been a resident at the Lillian Booth Actors Fund Home since 2005. He was born in Ridgewood on May 4, 1956. Dennis was a graduate of Ridgewood High School in 1974 and he received his BA in Music Education from SUNY in Potsdam, NY and a Master of Arts from Jersey City State College. He taught music at various schools in Northern NJ and was a percussionist with Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra, Village Band, and the Waldwick Band. He had a life-long love of music.

After graduating, she was diagnosed with metas tic cancer, which she bravely battled for 4 1/2 years. She attended Douglas college to study nutrition & remained spirited and positive throughout her battle with cancer. Her life and spirit inspired many. My daughter is named after my sister & is graduating HS this year!

I have too many great times spent with Andy Cahill to mention....for too many reasons. My first sushi experience was with Andy at Tawarwa in Ramsey. The first and only time I was forced to make egg nog at 2am Christmas Eve with real eggs was with Andy. The first and only time I made egg rolls from scratch was with Andy. The first and only time I was pulled over by a cop and admitted I was drunk and the cop let me drive away...was with Andy. The first and only time I hauled a 1/2 keg of beer up to Pine Meadow Lake was with Andy. The first and only time Leyden's Father Jack yelled at us to keep off his dune was with Andy. The first and only time the same Jack Leyden served us beer, wine, sangria and sandwiches was with Andy. My first camping "trip" as owner of Pork Island was with Andy. Many of the best Turkey Bowls were with Andy. I would never had helped jam entire Christmas trees in Leyden's lit basement fire place if it were'nt for Andy. I will never miss some one so much that I have'nt seen for so long if it were'nt for Andy.

I thought I would share one memory I have that has to do with Steve. He was a member of the offensive line that had the first ever running back to rush for 1000 yards(Paul Ferraro) at RHS. The line was left to right I believe, Brian McKinley, Rob McKinley, John Frazza, Steve and Rob Brierley. I was the tight end. I know there was much more to his life than this but I did not stay in touch with Steve over the years and this might be something that many of his friends or family don't know or simply forgot about. We were very proud of this accomplishment that was finally achieved on Thanksgiving Day 1976 @ Fair Lawn HS. RIP Steve.

Thanks for that memory Tim. Steve was, and always will be, my best friend. I have so many memories of Steve that I could share here, but knowing him the way I did, I think he would prefer that I keep them private. I can say, no mattter how much time passed between our seeing each other or talking on the phone, when we did get together it seemed like we saw each other daily. He was the kind of friend that you feel lucky, honored and blessed to have in your life. I loved Steve Callanan like a brother and I miss him each and every day. I know he is resting peacfully with his brother Billy, his Mom and his Dad.

Craig was such a nice kid. Among other things, I remember his mother waiting for him every day when the school bus dropped him off in the Lawns. After he died, it was so sad to not see her out there - my heart broke for her. I often thought of her and wondered how she was doing and what ever happened to her.--Stephanie Jones

Craig was one of the first classmates I remember having died. We were at BF and just days before we had been put on the same intramural volleyball team. (Poor kid to be on a team with me!) I had never remembered meeting him before then, and recall thinking that he was a nice kid. Bev was my best friend and in my wedding. She died from breast cancer in Aug 1992. The last time I saw her was in June 1992 and she was worrying about me. She was a very selfless person. She was a great, true friend. I think of her often and miss her. Thanks, Nancy for adding her. The 3 of us had some fun times together!!! Lets Go Mets!! =)

Why a Blog?

Why a new blog? Truth be told the reactions to the Facebook forum, Ridgewood, NJ "In Memory Of" Memorial Wall, have been very moving and I thought it time to share with people beyond the gated community of Social Media.

Each Ridgewood High School class which currently has a list of classmates on Facebook will be included, as well as tributes to our teachers, administrators, and the employees we saw daily who endeared themselves to us.

As I am made aware of new lists of classmates and tributes to other individuals who touched our lives, they will be added.
